Importance of a good profile picture

November 29 2010

Just curious to see how important the main profile picture in someone clicking on a profile for a closer look. As a female I get that things like male's profile with cock shots as the main picture are a big no-no in general and I don't even bother most of the time to look a profile that has a restricted picture as the main (as us guests can't see restricted pics, and i'm not into the full genital shots). But how important is it to have an eye-catching main profile picture? Is it simply enough to make you want to click if they are in your area and in your age bracket? What kind of main photos more draw your attention? I know I prefer ones that leave a little to the imagination, but I change my main picture fairly regularly and don't really find any correlation between the type of photo and the amount of responses that I receive...My photo before this current one was me in a singlet and denim shorts, which is a little different compared to the current, but hasn't seemed to made a difference in terms of the amount (or type) of messages that I receive... In saying that i've never used a main or picture that had more on display than my current. Miss Didactic xx

Your underwater swimming pool shot... it's inventive, exciting and intriguing.... The picture is, at the end of the day, just your shopfront. I think people put too much emphasis on the visual instincts of men... yes, we're visual creatures.. but that's not going to capture us for long... although maybe about three minutes on average for some. ;pHugsStalky

I think what you say in you profile is way more important than the profile pic. I do actually read all the profiles...every thing. If I am really interested i will read some of the forum posts as well. As for you rpofile you are female so that is enough for 80% of guys to send you messages even though you are not looking for guys. Seriously I think few guys even really look and certainly fewer read profiles they work on mass contact to get sex. I don't know what their strike rate is though. Mike

I have to be honest the pics are what bring me in, then I look at what they have written on the profile. If I no like piccy I no flirty. I think the pic is definitley a draw card - I am suprised you would say otherwise. And I am not saying that you have to look like an Adonis either (normally muscley boys are not my thing). It is usually about about a man's face for me - I can't explain it, just sometimes I see a face and I know I just have to have him - doesn't happen often though. Oh and a nice body or bum shot helps too... xxx Meeka

Well I have a tooshie shot on my profile, it seems that people like it so perhaps I have an OK pic...I have seen some good photos and then in the profile you have to wonder if they got past grade/year4 at school...then you see others with shockers of photos or no photo but the words captivate you. Most of the comment I get on my profile is the words, and the odd drool of my tooshie perhaps. I just don't think the photo is a deal breaker right off the bat.

I have a strange issue with my profile pic... It's a picture of me, full clothed.. but for some reason it comes up as restricted... my gf's pics are in the gallery. She is wearing a skimpy outfit and they are not restricted..I've just deleted that previous pic and put another one up.. hopefully that fixes the issue.Anyway, to answer your question, yes, the picture makes a big difference for us. Not necessarily nude pics, but they have to be sexy that's for sure. Too many guys go straight for the cock pics, not a great way to start.....anyway, have fun

For us pictures tell a story in 1000 words and attraction is still the number one driving force for our core underlying base animalistic instincts so yes in short the main picture is the most important one of all. We have found over the years found that its quality not quantity in the pics after all seeing 150 photos of the same 1 or 2 people is something you do with friends you havent seen for 10 years. I think a few great opening shots sexy not slutty and be creative use black and white, bright backgrounds etc etc to mix it up and set yourself apart from the rest, be a little mysterious and keep people guessing after all you are advertising yourself to a broad market (simplest terms) and as stated in earlier post need to make people want to click and read your profile which in turn is short and concise. Lastly make sure your pics are current less than 3 months old its always fun taking new pics too Come to think of it might be time to revise ours Mr and Mrs Shag

Pics draw me in. If I don't like the pics, i'm not going to bother reading the profile - E.G. If they have a cock pic and nothing else (which I can't see because it's restricted) then I won't bother reading the rest. And thanks Stalky, underwater cameras can be great fun! Mike, I do the same thing as you, if i'm interested in someone i'll not only read their profile but see what they've been up to on the forums because a lot of interesting stuff comes out on here that can say a lot about the person writing it. And it definitely gives someone massive brownie points if their message lets me know that they've read my profile (however long and arduous it may be LOL). I suppose based on that, pics are the first impression, then the written part either reaffirms or contradicts that...

Anyone who knows me knows that I have been absent for a little while (damn moving interstae) anyway I have done a variety of pics as a single female profile (well thats what this girl is lol) and have the following points to say: *it doesnt matter what pic you have you are still going to be bombarded with messages and flirts How can I say this???? lets see.....I started off with just a boob shot, upgraded to a bit more artistic boob shot, went to legs, then a COCK shot (boy did that one create a bit of a stir - oh and thanks to the lovely man who loant me his cock for the weekend - cause thats how long that one lasted before too many complaints were lodged) then went to face pic and now current pic...not once did my message or flirt rate lessen in fact i got more flirts and msgs from the cock shot than anything else...why??? simple really guests cant see explicit things so guys who havent forked over memebership just saw restricted pic and went WOW! not knowing what the pic is - oh and so you dont have to check out my profile I am a paid member and have been for quite sometime.... Now to the other posters: Stalky, lovecurvie and Andreweagle.....mmmm.... butt shots my fav...but then I am a perve afteral (def dont knock the cock shots - hence the paid membership)l....wouldnt mind sinking my teeth into a few of those....\ Specifically Anfreweagle - you know we love your arse boy and you take that away fromus and you got some cranky girls on your hands...lol Pheasnt_plucker - DROP THE TOWEL...please???? Please note....I ma a Kisses Focus

Andy would you please consider leaving your cute bum shot up please? Or take maybe take a few different bum shots and post them on a rotating roster? Would love to have a poster of your regular bum shot to put up in my dungeon.

Reading the responses I got to thinking: for which gender does the profile pic matter most (as a way to draw in potentially interested parties)? As men seem to outnumber women on here by a fair margin, are women afforded the luxury of being more choosy about which profiles they view? If that is so, one would think men must give greater to consideration to the content of their profile picture. To switch that around, with women on the smaller side of the ratio (the numerator, for the maths-minded), are men required to be more open in terms of what will interest them enough to see the full profile? Of course, the thought also comes to mind that men are more often randy buggers who don't need much urging to check out a profile. :)
